CUET UG Counselling 2026 Registration & Seat Allotment

The CUET UG Counselling 2026 process has started at several participating universities. Candidates who appeared in the entrance exam must now visit the admission websites of their preferred universities and complete separate counselling registrations.

The CUET UG 2026 scorecard was released by the National Testing Agency on June 23, 2026. However, downloading the result is not enough to secure admission. Students must apply separately to each university where they want a seat.

Delhi University has already opened its Common Seat Allocation System, while Banaras Hindu University began undergraduate registration on July 9, 2026. The University of Allahabad has also activated its CUET UG registration page.

The dates are not the same for every university. Candidates should not wait for a single national counselling schedule because no such common schedule exists.

No. NTA conducts the entrance examination, publishes the answer key and releases the CUET scorecard. It does not prepare university merit lists or allot college seats.

The official CUET UG information bulletin states that participating universities handle admissions at their own level. Each institution releases its own:

• Counselling schedule
• Merit list
• Cut-off score
• Seat-allotment result
• Fee-payment deadline

Students must therefore keep checking the admission website of every university they selected.

There is no single timetable covering all universities. However, Delhi University has released a detailed schedule for its undergraduate admission process.

These dates apply only to Delhi University. They should not be treated as the counselling schedule for BHU, Allahabad University or another CUET-participating institution.

Banaras Hindu University opened its undergraduate registration process on July 9, 2026. Students who appeared in CUET UG 2026 can apply through the university’s admission system.

The last date to complete BHU UG registration is July 25, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Candidates should read the BHU information bulletin and CAP UG rules before submitting the form.

A candidate generally needs to meet the following conditions:

• Appeared in CUET UG 2026
• Passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination
• Taken the CUET subjects required for the chosen course
• Met the university’s programme-specific eligibility rules
• Possessed valid category documents, where applicable
• Completed the university counselling form before the deadline

Appearing in CUET does not automatically make a candidate eligible for every course. Universities may require a specific language, domain subject or General Aptitude Test combination.

For example, Delhi University requires candidates to match the subjects studied in Class 12 with the relevant CUET papers. A student can lose eligibility for a programme by choosing the wrong subject combination, even with a good score.

The exact form may look different on each university website, but the basic process is usually similar.

Step 1: Choose Your Universities

Prepare a list of universities and courses you genuinely want. Do not apply only to one highly competitive institution unless you are comfortable risking a year.

Check the course eligibility before paying any registration fee.

Step 2: Visit the University Admission Website

Open the official admission portal of the university. Do not register through random links shared on social media, WhatsApp groups or unofficial websites.

Look for terms such as:

Step 3: Create an Account

Most universities ask for the CUET UG application number and date of birth during registration.

An OTP may be sent to the mobile number or email used in the CUET application. Make sure you still have access to both.

Step 4: Fill in Personal and Academic Details

Enter your name, parents’ names, date of birth, Class 10 details and Class 12 marks carefully.

The spelling should match your school certificates and CUET application. A mismatch may delay document verification.

Step 5: Upload Documents

Scan every document clearly. Do not upload blurred photos, cropped certificates or unreadable PDFs.

Step 6: Select Courses and Colleges

Choose all suitable programme and college combinations. Arrange them in your true order of preference.

Your first preference should be the option you want most, not the option you believe is easiest to get.

Step 7: Pay the Registration Fee

Pay the counselling fee through the official university dashboard. Save the receipt after payment.

The counselling form may remain incomplete until the payment is successfully recorded.

Step 8: Download the Confirmation Page

Save the submitted application form, payment receipt and preference list. These records may be needed if a technical or admission problem occurs later.

The exact document list varies by university and category. Candidates should normally keep the following ready:

Delhi University specifically requires the Class 10 certificate, Class 12 marksheet and relevant reservation certificates. The candidate’s name and other details must match the CUET and school records.

The counselling fee is decided separately by each university. There is no single CUET counselling fee charged by NTA.

For Delhi University CSAS UG 2026, the one-time application fee is:

Students applying through ECA, sports or certain performance-based courses may have to pay an additional fee. Other universities may use completely different fee structures.

Universities usually prepare their merit lists and seat allocations using several factors:

A high CUET score helps, but it does not guarantee admission to every course. The student must also meet the subject requirements and complete the counselling process correctly.

After a seat is allotted, candidates must log in to their admission dashboard and read the instructions immediately.

Do not assume that receiving an allotment means admission is complete. At Delhi University, for example, admission is confirmed only after the college approves the application and the candidate pays the fee before the deadline. Missing the payment deadline can lead to cancellation of the seat.

Freeze means you are satisfied with your current seat and do not want to be considered for a higher preference.

Upgrade means you accept the current seat but want the system to consider you for a programme or college placed higher in your preference list.

These options may work differently at each university. Read the university’s counselling rules instead of assuming the process is identical everywhere.

Delhi University gives admitted candidates an opportunity to choose between upgrade and freeze after completing the required admission steps.

Waiting for NTA Counselling

NTA will not conduct a common seat-allotment process. Register separately with universities.

Missing University Deadlines

Universities may keep their registration windows open for only a short period. Missing one deadline can remove that university from your options.

Choosing Ineligible Courses

A strong CUET score cannot fix the wrong subject combination. Check programme eligibility before adding a course.

Entering Too Few Preferences

Adding only one or two popular options reduces your chance of receiving a seat. Include every suitable option you are willing to accept.

Arranging Preferences by Expected Cut-Off

Your preference list should reflect what you actually want. Seat-allotment systems normally try to give the highest available option from your submitted order.

Ignoring the Dashboard

Universities may ask candidates to respond to document queries within a limited period. Check the dashboard, email and registered phone number every day.

Create a simple spreadsheet containing the university name, registration deadline, fee, login details and current status.

Save your passwords securely. Using one careless password across several admission portals is a bad idea.

Keep at least two digital copies of every certificate. Use clear file names such as “Class-12-Marksheet.pdf” instead of random names.

Research course structure, fees, location, hostel availability and career value before locking preferences. A famous college offering the wrong course is not automatically a smart choice.

Apply to a realistic mix of ambitious, moderate and safer options. Betting everything on one top college is not confidence; it is poor risk management.
