Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a graduate degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

The graduation result must be declared on or before 31 July 2026. Candidates applying through NATS must have had their graduation result declared between 1 March 2022 and 31 July 2026, with both dates included. They must be able to provide their marksheets and provisional or final degree certificate when required.

Age Limit

The applicant must be at least 20 years old and not more than 28 years old as of 1 July 2026.

For General and EWS applicants, the date of birth should fall between 1 July 1998 and 1 July 2006, including both dates. Candidates registered under NAPS must be below 34 years of age on the cutoff date, subject to the applicable relaxation rules.

Nationality

Only citizens of India are eligible to apply for the apprenticeship.

A candidate may not be eligible in the following situations:

• The candidate has already completed or is currently completing an apprenticeship with IOB or another organization.
• A previous apprenticeship was terminated because of the candidate’s fault.
• The candidate has one year or more of job or training experience after completing graduation.
• The candidate submits false, incomplete or incorrect information.
• The applicant cannot produce the required original documents during verification.

The fee varies according to the applicant’s category and gender.

The fee must be paid online between 7 July and 22 July 2026. It is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another recruitment process.

The monthly stipend depends on the location of the branch where the apprentice is placed.

For apprentices selected through NATS, ₹6,150 of the monthly amount may be credited directly by the government through DBT. The remaining amount is paid by the bank. The total stipend remains the amount shown above.

Apprentices are not entitled to the regular allowances and benefits provided to IOB employees. Unauthorized absence may also lead to a proportionate deduction from the monthly stipend.

The selection process may include the following stages:

1. Online Written Examination

The first stage is an objective online examination carrying 100 marks.

Candidates will receive 90 minutes to complete the test. There are no separate minimum qualifying marks for each section. The bank will decide the minimum aggregate qualifying score, with a 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. If two candidates receive equal marks at the cutoff point, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.

2. Remote Examination Requirements

The written test must be taken on the scheduled date using a front-camera-enabled desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Candidates must show the same identity document that they uploaded during registration.

Except where permitted for PwBD applicants, no other person should be near the candidate during the examination. Detailed rules will be shared by BFSI SSC through the registered email address.

3. Local-Language Test

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand one of the specified local languages of the state for which they apply.

The language test will normally be conducted during document verification after the candidate qualifies for the online examination. Applicants who studied the required local language in Class 10 or Class 12 may be exempt if they provide a supporting marksheet or certificate.

4. Document Verification and Personal Interaction

Shortlisted candidates will be called for physical document verification at a centre selected by the bank. IOB may also conduct a personal interaction if required.

Final selection depends on eligibility verification, written-test performance, the local-language requirement, medical fitness and satisfactory verification of the candidate’s certificates and background.

The IOB apprenticeship lasts for one year and mainly provides practical, on-the-job training at a bank branch or workplace. Daily training hours will generally be the same as those followed by clerical staff at the branch.

Apprentices can receive one casual leave day per month, making a total of 12 casual leave days during the year. A maximum of four leave days may be taken at one time. IOB does not provide hostel, transport or residential accommodation as part of the program.
