The IGCAR Kalpakkam Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Apply Online process will begin on 20 July 2026. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research has announced 200 training seats for ITI-qualified candidates in 18 trades.The recruitment has been released under Advertisement No. IGCAR/03/2026. Selected candidates will complete one year of apprenticeship training at IGCAR, Kalpakkam, in Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu. The last date to submit the online application is 19 August 2026.

PASAA means Programming and System Administration Assistant. Candidates holding a Computer Operator and Programming Assistant qualification can apply for the PASAA trade.

Eight seats have also been identified for candidates with benchmark disabilities. A candidate claiming PwBD benefits must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more and meet the trade-specific suitability conditions.

Applicants must have an ITI pass certificate in the trade related to the seat for which they are applying.

The ITI certificate should be issued under NCVT or SCVT, as applicable. Applicants should select only the trade that matches the qualification shown on their certificate.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and should not be more than 24 years old on 19 August 2026.

The upper-age relaxation is:

• SC and ST candidates: 5 years
• OBC candidates: 3 years
• PwBD candidates: 10 years

Applicants using reserved-category relaxation must provide a valid certificate in the prescribed Central Government format.

The stipend depends on the normal duration of the candidate’s ITI course.

The amount is based on the Apprenticeship Amendment Rules referred to in the official notification. The notification does not describe the payment as a regular salary because candidates are being engaged for apprenticeship training.

There is no written examination mentioned in the official notification. Candidates will be shortlisted according to the percentage of marks obtained in their ITI course.

The selection process includes:

1. Shortlisting based on ITI marks
2. Tie-breaking using Class 10 or Class 8 marks
3. Document verification
4. Medical examination
5. Final engagement for apprenticeship training

For Welder, Carpenter, Wood Work Technician, Mason, Civil Mistry and Plumber trades, Class 8 marks may be considered for the tie-break, where applicable.

When two applicants have the same ITI percentage, the candidate with higher Class 10 or Class 8 marks will be placed higher. If the tie still remains, the candidate born earlier will receive preference.

The application has two important stages. Completing only the Apprenticeship India registration is not enough. Candidates must also submit the separate IGCAR online application.

Step 1: Register on Apprenticeship India

Create an apprentice profile on the official Apprenticeship India portal.

Complete the required personal, educational and ITI information. After registration, the portal will provide a unique registration number similar to AXXXXXXXXXX.

IGCAR will not accept an application without this registration number.

Step 2: Complete Aadhaar e-KYC

Candidates must complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC on the Apprenticeship India portal.

Use a personal mobile number and email address that will remain active throughout the recruitment and training period. The same registered information should be entered in the IGCAR application.

Step 3: Open the IGCAR Recruitment Page

Visit the official IGCAR website and open:

Find Advertisement No. IGCAR/03/2026 and select the online application option. The form will be available from 20 July to 19 August 2026.

Step 4: Choose the Correct Trade

Select the trade that matches your ITI certificate.

Candidates are allowed to apply for only one trade. Submitting applications for multiple trades may result in rejection.

Step 5: Enter Your Details

Fill in your:

• Name
• Date of birth
• Category
• Contact information
• Apprenticeship registration number
• Class 8 or Class 10 details
• ITI trade and marks
• Other required information

Your name, date of birth and qualification details should match your certificates exactly.

Step 6: Upload the Documents

Upload the required certificates in PDF format. The Class 8 or Class 10 marksheet, ITI certificate, semester-wise marksheets and consolidated marksheet should be scanned as one PDF file.

Step 7: Review the Form

Check every entry before final submission.

IGCAR has clearly stated that requests to change or correct the application will not be accepted after final submission.

Step 8: Submit and Print

Submit the form and save a copy. Take a printout because shortlisted applicants must produce the signed application during document verification.

Keep these documents ready before opening the form:

• Class 8 or Class 10 marksheet, as applicable

• Semester-wise ITI marksheets
• Consolidated ITI marksheet

The academic documents must be clear and readable. Incomplete applications or applications submitted without the required documents can be rejected.

Shortlisted candidates must carry original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies.

The required documents include:

• Printed and signed online application
• Recent passport-size photograph
• Police verification certificate
• Date-of-birth or SSC certificate
• Class 8 or Class 10 marksheet
• NCVT or SCVT ITI certificate
• Year-wise and consolidated ITI marksheets
• Valid caste certificate, where applicable
• EWS income and asset certificate, where applicable
• PwBD certificate showing at least 40% disability, where applicable
• Savings bank passbook
• Aadhaar card
• PAN card
• Apprenticeship India registration confirmation
• CGPA-to-percentage conversion proof, where applicable

Candidates will not receive travelling or daily allowance for attending document verification or the medical examination.

Applicants are not eligible when they have already completed or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, in a government organization, public-sector unit or private industrial organization.

This condition applies even when the earlier apprenticeship was completed only partially. Candidates should check this point carefully before submitting the form.

This is training, not permanent employment

Completing the apprenticeship does not provide an automatic right to employment at IGCAR. The official notification clearly states that candidates cannot claim a job after completing the training.

Medical fitness is required

Final engagement is subject to passing the medical examination prescribed by the competent authority.

Police verification is required

Selected candidates must provide a police verification certificate during document verification.

Hostel accommodation is not free

Hostel accommodation may be offered to selected candidates on a chargeable basis, depending on availability.

A trade test follows the training

After completing the training period, apprentices must take a trade test. Those who pass can receive a National Apprenticeship Certificate through the apprenticeship portal.

Register early: Do not wait until the last day to create your Apprenticeship India profile. Aadhaar verification or document-upload issues may take time to resolve.

Check the ITI trade name: Apply only when your certificate matches the accepted trade listed in the notification.

Combine documents properly: Your school marksheet, ITI certificate, semester marksheets and consolidated marksheet must be combined into one clear PDF where instructed.

Use your own contact details: Avoid using the email address or mobile number of a training centre, friend or cyber café.

Review marks carefully: Selection depends mainly on ITI percentage, so entering incorrect marks can affect your candidature.

Keep certificates valid: Category and EWS certificates must remain valid as of the application closing date.

Save the final form: Keep both a digital copy and a printed copy of the submitted application.

Candidates should avoid:

• Registering on Apprenticeship India but not submitting the IGCAR form
• Applying without completing Aadhaar e-KYC
• Selecting a trade that does not match the ITI certificate
• Applying for more than one trade
• Entering an incorrect Apprenticeship India registration number
• Uploading blurred or incomplete certificates
• Entering marks that do not match the original marksheets
• Using an inactive email address or mobile number
• Waiting until the final day to apply
• Assuming corrections will be allowed after submission
