UPPSC PCS Pre Recruitment 2026 Apply Online 500 Posts

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has released the UPPSC PCS Pre Recruitment 2026 notification for candidates who want to work in Uttar Pradesh government services. Around 500 vacancies are available through the Combined State and Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2026.The online application process started on June 25, 2026, and the last date to apply and pay the examination fee is July 27, 2026. Not every listed post will necessarily have vacancies in the final distribution. Only posts for which UPPSC receives a departmental request are included. Additional graduate-level posts may also be added before the Preliminary Examination result.

The basic educational requirement for the UPPSC PCS Examination 2026 is a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Candidates must have completed the required qualification by the last date of application.

Students who are still appearing in the examination required for their essential qualification are not eligible to apply.

Some posts have additional requirements. Depending on the post, applicants may need qualifications such as:

• A postgraduate degree
• B.Ed. or another education qualification
• A law degree
• A degree in commerce, economics or finance
• A social work or sociology qualification
• A technical or professional degree
• Relevant teaching or professional experience

A graduation degree may make you eligible for the general examination, but it does not automatically make you eligible for every post. Check the post-wise qualification section before selecting your preferences.

For most posts, candidates must be at least 21 years old and must not be more than 40 years old on July 1, 2026.

Applicants should have been born:

• Not earlier than July 2, 1986
• Not later than July 1, 2005

For the post of Principal in a Government Intermediate College, the age limit is 30 to 40 years.

The upper age limit is relaxed according to Uttar Pradesh government rules.

The maximum age for eligible persons with disabilities may be up to 55 years. Reservation and age-relaxation benefits generally apply only to eligible permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates from other states are normally treated under the unreserved category for these benefits.

The UPPSC PCS selection process has three main stages:

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is an objective, multiple-choice test. It is mainly used to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.

Main Written Examination

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination must complete a separate application for the Main Examination. The Mains papers are descriptive and require written answers.

Personality Test or Interview

Candidates who qualify in the Main Examination are called for the interview. The final selection is generally based on marks obtained in the Main Examination and interview, subject to the service rules for each post.

UPPSC plans to shortlist around 15 times the number of vacancies for the Main Examination and around three times the number of vacancies for the interview.

The Preliminary Examination contains two compulsory papers.

Candidates must appear in both papers. General Studies Paper II, commonly called CSAT, requires at least 33% marks. The Preliminary Examination merit is prepared using marks from Paper I.

One-third of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. Selecting more than one option will also be treated as a wrong answer. There is no penalty for leaving a question unanswered.

The syllabus gives special importance to Uttar Pradesh, so candidates should not depend only on general UPSC material.

The Main Examination has eight compulsory descriptive papers.

Each paper is generally three hours long. The interview or personality test carries 100 marks.

The interview checks general awareness, intelligence, personality, communication, character and overall suitability for government service.

Follow these steps to submit your application:

1. Visit the official UPPSC recruitment portal.
2. Complete One-Time Registration if you do not already have an OTR number.
3. Allow enough time for the OTR details to be processed.
4. Open the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2026 advertisement.
5. Click the Apply option.
6. Authenticate your account using your OTR number, OTP or OTR password.
7. Check the personal information automatically taken from your OTR profile.
8. Enter your qualification and post-related details.
9. Select the correct category, domicile and reservation information.
10. Pay the application fee through an available online payment method.
11. Preview the complete form before final submission.
12. Submit the application and save a printed or digital copy.

UPPSC advises candidates without an OTR number to obtain it at least 72 hours before submitting the application. A hard copy of the application does not need to be sent during the Preliminary Examination application stage unless the commission asks for it later.

Your name, date of birth and other personal details should match your official documents. Do not enter information that you cannot prove during document verification.

The salary depends on the post offered to the selected candidate. The notification lists posts under pay scales ranging from ₹9,300–34,800 with grade pay of ₹4,600 to ₹15,600–39,100 with grade pay of ₹5,400 under the older pay-scale format. The Naib Tehsildar post is listed with grade pay of ₹4,200. Actual salary, allowances and current pay-matrix level vary by department and post.

Start with the official syllabus instead of collecting too many books. Divide the syllabus into small weekly targets and give extra time to Uttar Pradesh history, geography, economy, schemes and current affairs.

Solve previous-year papers regularly. They help you understand the level of questions and show which topics are repeated. Because there is negative marking, avoid random guessing during mock tests.

Do not ignore CSAT just because it is qualifying. Practise basic mathematics, reasoning and comprehension every week. Many otherwise well-prepared candidates struggle when they leave CSAT preparation until the end.

For current affairs, make short notes instead of saving every news article. Focus on major national events, government policies, reports, environment, economy and Uttar Pradesh-specific developments.

Complete your OTR and application early. Carefully review your category, qualification, date of birth and contact details before submission.

Keep copies of the final form, fee receipt and OTR information. UPPSC may ask successful candidates to submit printed forms and self-attested documents after the Preliminary Examination.

Use only correct and verifiable information. UPPSC may cancel the application or debar candidates who submit false details or cannot support their claims with proper documents.
