The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has released the NBEMS Group A, B & C Various Post Recruitment 2026 notification for 53 vacancies. This recruitment includes posts such as Deputy Director Medical, Junior Programmer, Junior Accountant, Stenographer, and Junior Assistant. NBEMS is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and conducts high-standard postgraduate medical examinations at the national level.

Out of the Junior Assistant vacancies, one vacancy is a backlog vacancy for the ST category. NBEMS has also mentioned reservation for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates as per government rules.

The eligibility criteria are different for each post. Candidates should check their education, age limit, and required skills before filling out the online form.

Deputy Director Medical

For the Deputy Director Medical post, candidates must have a recognised postgraduate medical qualification approved under the Medical Council Act, 1956. Knowledge of medical education technology or modern evaluation methods can be useful for this post. The maximum age limit is 35 years.

Junior Programmer

For the Junior Programmer post, candidates should have B.Tech, BE, BCA, DOEACC B or C level, or a degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics with computer specialisation, or an equivalent qualification. The age should be below 27 years.

Junior Accountant

For the Junior Accountant post, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics or Statistics, or a degree in Commerce from a recognised university. Candidates will also need to qualify the examination prescribed by NBEMS. Experience in accounts and computer-based accounting may help, but it is listed as desirable.

Stenographer

For the Stenographer post, candidates must have passed Senior Secondary, which means Class 12 under the 10+2 system. They also need stenographic skills of 80 words per minute in shorthand and 30 words per minute in typing. Candidates will have to qualify the test in General English, shorthand, and typewriting conducted by NBEMS.

Junior Assistant

For the Junior Assistant post, candidates must have passed Senior Secondary Examination from a recognised board or university. They should also know how to use computers and basic software packages such as Windows, network operating systems, and LAN-related work. Candidates must also qualify the examination prescribed by NBEMS.

The minimum age for direct recruitment is 18 years. The upper age limit depends on the post. For Deputy Director Medical, the age should not exceed 35 years. For Junior Programmer, Junior Accountant, and Junior Assistant, the age should be below 27 years. For Stenographer, the age limit is 18 to 27 years.

Age relaxation will be given as per Government of India rules. SC/ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation, OBC candidates get 3 years, PwBD candidates get relaxation based on category, and Ex-Servicemen also get relaxation as per the rules mentioned in the official notice.

The application fee for UR and OBC candidates is Rs. 1500 plus 18% GST. SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates do not have to pay the application fee. Bank processing and service charges may be charged separately by the bank.

The fee must be paid online only. Candidates can pay through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Once the fee is paid, it will not be refunded or transferred.

The selection process depends on the post. For Deputy Director Medical and Junior Programmer, NBEMS will share the exam scheme and syllabus later on its official website.

For Junior Accountant, Stenographer, and Junior Assistant, there will be two stages:

Stage 1: Computer Based Test

The Stage 1 exam will be a Computer Based Test. It will have 200 questions for 200 marks. The test duration will be 180 minutes. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM candidates, and 50% for other candidates.

Stage 2: Computer Knowledge or Skill Test

The Stage 2 exam will be a Computer Knowledge or Skill Test of 100 marks. The duration will be 75 minutes. This stage may include data entry, word processing, computer operation, stenography, or other skill-based tasks according to the post. Five candidates against every vacancy in each category will be called for this stage based on Stage 1 merit.

For Junior Accountant, Stenographer, and Junior Assistant, the Stage 1 CBT will include four sections.

The question paper will be available in English and Hindi for Stage 1 CBT. The level of the paper will match the educational qualification required for the post.

For Junior Accountant, Stenographer, and Junior Assistant, the final merit list will be prepared using the total marks obtained in Stage 1 CBT and Stage 2 Skill Test. If two or more candidates get the same marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list. The select list will remain valid for one year or until the next selection, whichever is earlier.

There will be no interview for Group B and Group C posts. This is helpful for candidates because the selection will mainly depend on exam performance and skill test marks.

The admit card will be released on the official NBEMS website before the exam. Candidates will need to download and print it. Candidates must carry a valid photo identity card to the exam centre. Mobile phones, calculators, electronic watches, Bluetooth devices, and communication gadgets are not allowed inside the examination hall.
