The Indian Air Force has invited online applications for the Indian Air Force Agniveer Vayu 02/2027 Recruitment under the Agnipath Scheme. Unmarried Indian male and female candidates who meet the required age, education, physical and medical conditions can apply online.Registration started at 11:00 AM on 6 July 2026 and will close at 11:00 PM on 26 July 2026. The online examination is scheduled for 22 and 23 September 2026. Selected candidates will serve in the Indian Air Force as Agniveervayu for four years, including their training period.

The Indian Air Force has advised candidates to register early because an extension of the application deadline may not be provided. Exam-related changes and updates will be published on the official recruitment portal.

Candidates must have been born between 1 July 2005 and 1 January 2010, including both dates.

A candidate who clears every stage of the selection process must not be more than 22 years old on the date of enrolment.

Make sure the date of birth entered in the application matches your Matriculation or Class 10 certificate. Do not use a different date from Aadhaar or another document when your school certificate shows something else.

Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible for enrolment. Selected candidates must agree not to marry during the four-year engagement period.

The recruitment notice also states that female candidates must agree not to become pregnant during this period. Candidates will be required to accept the applicable conditions at the time of enrolment.

The educational requirements are different for Science Subjects and Other Than Science Subjects.

For Science Subjects

A candidate must have completed one of the following qualifications:

Intermediate or 10+2: Passed with Mathematics, Physics and English from a recognised board, with at least 50% marks in total and 50% marks in English.

Three-year Engineering Diploma: Passed a diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology from a recognised polytechnic, with at least 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English.

Two-year Vocational Course: Passed a recognised vocational course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects, with at least 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English.

For Other Than Science Subjects

Candidates must have passed Intermediate, 10+2 or an equivalent examination in any stream from a recognised board with:

• At least 50% marks in aggregate
• At least 50% marks in English

Candidates who have completed a recognised two-year vocational course may also apply if they have 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in English.

Candidates eligible for the Science Subjects examination may choose to appear for both Science and Other Than Science Subjects in one sitting.

A useful point to remember is that marks are not rounded up. For example, 49.99% will be treated as 49%, not 50%. Check the percentage printed on your marksheet before applying.

The examination fee is ₹550 plus 18% GST. It is non-refundable and can be paid online through:

Once the application has been submitted and the fee has been paid, the form cannot be withdrawn and the payment will not be refunded.

Candidates must submit the application through the official Indian Air Force recruitment portal.

Step 1: Complete Registration

Open the Agniveervayu section of the recruitment website and select the registration option. Enter your personal details, active email address and mobile number.

Separate OTPs will be sent to your email address and mobile number for verification.

Step 2: Log In

After successful registration, the user ID and password will be sent to the registered contact details. Use them to log in and open the application form.

Step 3: Fill Out the Form

Enter your:

• Personal information
• Communication address
• Educational qualification
• Domicile details
• Examination preference

Check that your name, parents’ names and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate.

Step 4: Upload Documents

Upload the required photograph, signature, thumb impression and educational documents in the correct size and format.

The recent passport-size photograph should be between 100 KB and 200 KB. The candidate must hold a black slate showing their name and the date on which the photograph was taken.

The signature should be between 80 KB and 150 KB, while the left thumb impression should be between 50 KB and 100 KB. Candidates below 18 may also need to upload a parent’s or guardian’s signature. A live image will be captured during registration for photo matching.

Step 5: Preview the Application

Use the preview option to check every detail. Correct mistakes before final submission because changes may not be allowed later.

Step 6: Pay the Fee

Pay ₹550 plus GST using an available online payment method.

Step 7: Save the Form

Download and print the submitted application form and payment receipt. Keep both documents safe until the recruitment process is complete.

The Phase-I examination will be conducted online. Questions will be objective and bilingual in Hindi and English, except for the English paper.

Candidates receive one mark for every correct answer. There is no mark for an unanswered question, while 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. Candidates applying for both categories must qualify in each paper separately.

A simple preparation tip is to avoid guessing answers when you cannot remove at least two wrong options. Negative marking can reduce your total score quickly.

The Indian Air Force Agniveer Vayu 02/2027 selection process has three main phases.

Phase-I: Online Test

Eligible applicants will appear in the computer-based examination. Admit cards are expected to be sent to registered email addresses around 48 to 72 hours before the examination.

The scores may be normalised to balance differences in difficulty between examination shifts. State-wise cut-offs will be used to shortlist candidates for the next phase.

Phase-II: Document Verification and Physical Tests

Candidates shortlisted after the online examination will be called to an Airmen Selection Centre. They will go through:

• Adaptability Test-I
• Adaptability Test-II

Adaptability tests check whether a candidate can adjust to different locations, weather conditions, operational duties and military life.

Phase-III: Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify in Adaptability Test-II will undergo a detailed medical examination by the Air Force Medical Team.

Passing an earlier recruitment stage does not guarantee final selection. Candidates must meet all medical standards and find a place in the final state-wise merit list.

The Physical Fitness Test is divided into PFT-I and PFT-II.

Candidates should begin practising before the online examination instead of waiting for the Phase-I result. Use proper running shoes, increase speed slowly and practise each exercise with the correct technique to avoid injury.

The minimum acceptable height is generally 152 cm for male and female candidates. Female candidates from specified North-Eastern or hilly areas of Uttarakhand may be accepted at 147 cm, while the minimum for eligible candidates from Lakshadweep is 150 cm.

Male candidates must have a minimum chest circumference of 77 cm and an expansion of at least 5 cm. Female candidates must have a chest expansion of at least 5 cm.

Weight should be suitable for the candidate’s height and age. Candidates should also have normal hearing, healthy gums, sufficient dental points and general physical and mental fitness.

The broad visual requirement is 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6. The notice also states that candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK surgery will not be accepted. Final fitness is decided by the Medical Board, so candidates should read the complete medical standards before applying.

The monthly package increases during the four-year service period.

Thirty percent of the monthly package is contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, and the Government of India makes a matching contribution.

After four years, an Agniveervayu will receive an approximate Seva Nidhi package of ₹10.04 lakh, excluding interest. Applicable risk, hardship, dress and travel allowances may also be provided.

Agniveervayu candidates are enrolled for four years. The Indian Air Force is not required to retain every candidate after this period.

After completing four years, candidates may get an opportunity to apply for the regular Airmen cadre. Up to 25% of a specific batch may be considered based on service requirements, performance and other official conditions. Regular enrolment is not automatic or guaranteed.

Candidates completing the four-year period are not entitled to pension, gratuity or Ex-Servicemen status under this entry. However, they receive a skill certificate describing the abilities and experience gained during service.

Apply several days before the deadline so you have time to solve payment or upload problems. Use an email address and phone number that will remain active throughout the recruitment process.

Prepare your photograph exactly as instructed. Many applications face problems because the slate, name, date, background or file size is incorrect.

Start physical preparation early. A balanced routine of running, squats, sit-ups and push-ups will be more useful than intense exercise just before Phase-II.

Most importantly, use only the official recruitment portal. The Indian Air Force states that selection is fair, transparent and based on merit. Candidates should not pay money to agents who promise selection.
